The great New York music publishing house of G. Schirmer began Schirmer's Library of Musical Classics in 1892. The overall vision was to create an American edition of the masterworks, published with the needs of American musicians in mind, rather than a continued reliance on imported European editions. What a vision the Library was! The most interesting and qualified editing talent of the day was highly sought for the series. Many engaged editors had personal connections to the master composers or their students. By 1903 there were 500 volumes; by 1914, Volume 1000 hit the presses; and by 1926 1500 volumes had been released. It was an amazing accomplishment, never surpassed in American music publishing. Millions of musicians worldwide have played from the Library for over 125 years. The Hal Leonard relationship with the Schirmer Library began in 1986. Since then we are proud to continue publishing new volumes of this vital American treasure. Schirmer Library editions continue to offer:

Bud Bisbee | Hal Leonard Bud Bisbee Bud Wayne Bisbee received his B.M. in Piano Performance from the Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music and an M.A. in Choral Studies and Composition from Occidental College, Los Angeles. He has taught all levels of music, children through adults, and has directed many church music programs. His choirs have toured extensively in this country, Europe and Japan. Currently he is Composer-in Residence for the South Bay Children's Choir at El Camino College in Torrance, California and conducts the choir at St. Wilfrid's Church in Huntington Beach He also continues to compose and teach voice and piano at his home in Long Beach. Ken Litton | Hal Leonard Ken Litton Ken Litton has served the Parkway Baptist Church of St. Louis, Missouri for sixteen years as Minister of Music and Worship and is the director of the Missouri Music Men Handbell Choir. He has served churches in Oklahoma, Florida, Virginia, Texas and Missouri and as Worship Consultant for the Missouri Baptist Convention. Ken and his wife, Carol and sons Matt and Mark served as Southern Baptist Convention/International Mission Board music missionaries to Brazil from 1986-1998 where he was an editor of the guitar/keyboard edition of the Hymnal for Christian Worship, Rio de Janeiro, 1995. The Litton’s make their home in St. Charles, Missouri.

John Parker | Hal Leonard John Parker A native of Louisiana, John Parker holds the BM in Vocal Performance from Louisiana College and the MM in Choral Conducting from Northwestern State University. Composing primarily for church and school choirs, John’s 600+ choral works are published by numerous state-side companies. Active as a choral clinician and lecturer, Mr. Parker is author of How to Start a Fine Arts Academy in Your Church and numerous drama collections. John and his family make their home in Austin, TX where John has served as Associate Pastor of Worship & Music at Austin Baptist Church since 2014. Publications by John Parker

Bruce Berr | Hal Leonard Bruce Berr Bruce Berr taught music to children and adults for over thirty years. He taught piano and piano pedagogy in a variety of settings: universities and colleges, community music schools, and in his home studio. His educational compositions can be found in the Hal Leonard Student Piano Library, as well as in collections by other publishers. Dr. Berr wrote extensively about the art of teaching piano. His articles appeared in all of the major piano journals, and he was an associate editor for Keyboard Companion magazine since 1997. He presented lectures, workshops, and master classes for professional music teachers' associations and conferences throughout the United States. Dr. Berr received his degrees in piano and pedagogy from Washington University in St. Louis and from Northwestern University. Publications by Bruce Berr

Rosemary Barrrett Byers | Hal Leonard Rosemary Barrrett Byers Rosemary Barrett Byers has enjoyed a varied career as pianist, conductor, theatrical director, teacher, composer, and arranger. Since completing a Master of Music degree in piano performance at Indiana University, she has taught children and adults of all ages and levels in a home studio and at various colleges and universities throughout the Southeast and Midwest. Several of her original children's musicals such as Billy's Angel's Box, Miracle at Maple Hollow, CinderElf, and The Weally Weird Wabbitt have been produced by show choirs and theater companies in Tennessee and Kentucky. Debi Witt Jones | Hal Leonard Debi Witt Jones Debi Witt Jones was born in Zanesville, Ohio and moved to Austin, Texas at the age of 5. Austin has remained her home since then. She attended the University of Texas at Austin and started her own business, Austintatious Advertising, in 1983. Debi began playing the guitar at age 13 and began writing songs at age 14. She has been involved in several church praise bands for over 13 years and found that to be a good outlet for her songs. In 2000 Debi married Phil Jones and together they have Sunrise Ministries, Inc. which features the songwriting of both Debi and Phil as well as their beautiful voices. Sunrise Ministries has provided music to churches throughout Texas and in Virginia. Debi has recorded 4 albums, 3 of those in collaboration with Phil, featuring their original music. Matthew Ordaz | Hal Leonard Matthew Ordaz Matthew Ordaz is a spirited young man who loves music in any form. He began composing for piano at age five and has since won several awards in the MTAC Composition Contest and now in the Guild's International Composition Contest. Although he has earned a first place trophy at SYMF for piano performance and four 10-piece Founder plaques, his heart leads him to his drum set much of the time. He also loves to sing and perform on stage any chance he gets, singing with a men's barbershop chorus and with various musical theatre productions. When not playing music, Matthew loves to read, work puzzles, play with friends, and explore nature, science and Star Wars! He is home-schooled with Lighthouse Christian Academy in La Mirada, CA. Ken Medema | Hal Leonard Ken Medema Ken Medema has been writing and performing his own songs since 1970 when he began composing original material for his work as a music therapist in a psychiatric hospital. He is now involved in a full-time performance schedule that has taken him worldwide. Singing in every venue imaginable for 50 - 50,000 people, from churches to conventions to colleges to corporations, Ken has always custom designed an event for every occasion. Using his gift of improvisation, Ken hears with his heart, stories from people or themes from events or speeches and sings the stories back to audiences of all ages. In 1985, Ken launched Brier Patch Music, a small independent recording, publishing and performance-booking company named after Brer' Rabbit's home in the legendary Uncle Remus stories. Ken studied music therapy at Michigan State University, concentrating on performance skills in piano and voice. His music is earthy and direct, full of stories and humor. It uses musical styles from classical to rock, from ballad to blues, from sacred to profane-always searching for ways people can connect to each other, enabling them to sense the sacred within themselves and in surprising places. Blind from birth, Ken understands the importance of inclusivity and sensitively seeks to challenge his listeners to dream and work for a world of justice and peace. At home in San Francisco with his wife Jane, they spend their time reading books, watching movies (yes, Ken is an avid movie goer) and delighting in their grandchildren. Publications by Ken Medema

Cindy Berry | Hal Leonard Cindy Berry Cindy Woods Berry was born in Houston, Texas, and attended Houston Baptist University. She started taking piano lessons from her church organist when she was six years old, and started composing original songs when she was a teenager. But writing/composing was more of a hobby until God “called her” to write in 1983. Since then, she has devoted about half her writing time to choral anthems (for adults and children), and half to arranging for piano. Her anthems, musicals, and piano collections are found in the catalogs of many major publishers. She has received ASCAP Special Awards for many years, and enjoys leading “composer weekends” and conferences throughout the country. Cindy has always been active in her local church music ministry, serving as church pianist and children’s choir director. Her goal in writing is to always present her music as an offering of worship and praise to God. Cindy and her husband Bruce are blessed to have three adult sons and four grandsons. They make their home in Killeen, Texas.

Carolyn C. Setliff | Hal Leonard Carolyn C. Setliff Carolyn C. Setliff holds dual degrees in music (emphasis in composition) and business (cum laude) from the University of Arkansas and Centenary College, respectively. She has over 70 publications in print with Willis Music in a variety of levels and styles; her pieces are consistently listed in the Federation Festivals Bulletin (NFMC). Carolyn has maintained a successful teaching studio in Little Rock for almost 40 years. She is constantly inspired and challenged by her students, and considers it a privilege to see so many grow up to become successful adults with a lifelong love of music. An active member of the local, state, and national music teacher associations, Carolyn is also a frequent adjudicator at piano festivals and composition competitions. Carolyn grew up in a musical home, beginning piano lessons at the age of five. She and her twin sister grew up singing and playing piano recitals together. Their mother was a church organist and piano teacher, and both parents were incredibly supportive of their musical talents. Today, the musical circle continues: Carolyn’s daughter Cathy also teaches piano, and granddaughter Elizabeth and grandson Andrew are aspiring pianists. Publications by Carolyn C. Setliff
