At the peak of the big band era, saxophonist, composer and bandleader Charlie Barnet recorded his famous version of Cherokee followed shortly by this second big hit. Treated here in a samba style, Skyliner features the saxes playing the smooth melody accompanied by a unison brass counterline. There is solo space for tenor sax and trumpet, followed by a sax soli and shout chorus for the full ensemble.
