Cants Magics for the Piano was written in 1919. The music of Spanish composer Federico Mompou is rooted firmly in tbe late 19th century, where his chief influences were Debussy, Ravel and, most importantly, the eccentric Erik Satie. It is unsophisticated music, free of affectation and rhythmic contraints and yet is enormously attractive.
